SUNY Cobleskill Alumni Commons
158-Bed Residence Hall
Project Overview
The Environmental Design Partnership, LLP (EDP) was retained by JMZ Architects to provide site/civil design and construction-related services for the new 57,000-square-foot, 158-bed Alumni Commons residence hall at SUNY Cobleskill. The project was developed to offer upper-division students a transitional living environment that bridges traditional dormitory life and independent living.
Key Features
- The residence hall complex consists of multiple two-story buildings designed to create a “home-like” scale and atmosphere for students.
- Housing options include apartment-style suites and two-story townhomes, all featuring single-occupancy bedrooms and fully furnished kitchens and living rooms.
- A separate commons pavilion is provided for instruction and social gatherings, fostering a true living/learning environment tailored to mature, upper-level students.
- The site/civil design supports a cohesive campus setting, with pedestrian-friendly connections and landscaping that enhance the residential experience.
